Life Unexpected is indeed a departure for the CW, and so far it has paid off – not just in critical approval but in the ratings as well. The charming new drama gave the netlet its best total audience in the coveted Monday 9pm time slot in over a year. At the same time, its 2.83 million debut has outperformed the original season of the other CW darling Gossip Girl by 6 percent.
