Many are still mourning the loss of “Catcher in the Rye” author J.D. Salinger, who passed away yesterday at the age of 91. Even though the enigmatic writer was beloved by filmmakers and the entertainment industry in general, none of his works were ever officially sanctioned for adaption into film (and the ones that did were not well received).
However, in addition to Holden Caulfield, Mr. Salinger also had a hand in creating another prolific American character… so to speak. His son, Matt Salinger, portrayed Steve Rogers in the forgotten 1990 adaptation of “Captain America.”
